Dr Laena Karnstedt is a board certified internal medicine physician, working in various capacities for over 25 years. She received her medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in June, 1991. She went on to complete her internship at University Hospital in Cincinnati. After completing internship, she moved to Boston and completed residency at St Elizabeth's Medical Center.

Dr Karnstedt came to northeast Georgia in 2000. She practiced primary care internal medicine in private practice settings, as well as hospital-based settings. She had her solo practice for almost 10 years in Cumming, GA. As a transition role, she was involved in testing for COVID-19, with appropriate counseling of patients. Dr Karnstedt is a fellow in the American College of Physicians. Dr Karnstedt has trained and supervised advanced practice midlevel practitioners for many years. Dr Karnstedt excels in aspects of women's health and mental health. In 2008 the Hall County Chapter of The American Heart Association, awarded Dr Karnstedt their Physician of the Year award for promoting women's health issues.
